Formula Pro USA F4 completed rounds 5 & 6 at Portland International Raceway this weekend, dodging rain drops and uncertain weather for a great weekend of exciting racing. Friday’s test day turned out to be completely dry allowing teams and drivers time to optimize their car setups and get their drivers up to speed with the PIR track layout.
Saturday’s race saw Marco Kacic start in pole position with Rayce Dykstra, Alan Tang and Kyle Loh all falling right in line behind Marco at the race start. The four of them swapped positions numerous times during the race, ending with a drag race to the finish line. Rayce came across the finish line first with Marco literally right at his side for an almost photo finish end to an exciting race. Alan was able to hold off Kyle coming down the long straight to the finish line for the final spot on the podium. Alex Cornfeld drove a solid race to take the Masters Class win.
Round 5 Podium:
1. Rayce Dykstra – World Speed Motorsports – 1:18.977
Sunday’s race saw Marco Kacic once again start on pole with Rayce Dykstra, Alan Tang and Kyle Loh right up in the mix again with him. Marco managed to pull away from the pack early and held that position for the entire race. Alan, Rayce and Kyle traded places throughout the race fighting for the remaining podium positions behind Marco. On the last lap Rayce was in second place when Alan made a pass on Rayce that was deemed by the officials to be illegal thus securing second place for Rayce and third place for Alan. Alex Cornfeld once again drove a consistent race to another Masters Class win.
Round 6 Podium:
1. Marco Kacic – Doran Motorsports Group – 1:18.714
